Do you often wonder how you can improve your relationships with those you care about?
Do you sometimes feel an instant connection with some people but are turned off by others?
Did you know that by knowing yourself more, you can learn to communicate better?
The key to answering all these questions is to know your personality type. This is the main filter we use to understand ourselves, perceive the world around us, and relate to others. It is this knowledge of the deeper truths of our soul that can help us achieve growth in our careers and personal relationships. Only through self-awareness can we learn to accept who we are, understand the reasons behind our decisions and actions and ultimately find our path through life.
This is where the Nafsi questionnaire comes in. Nafsi (“soul” or “being” in Swahili and Arabic) is the fast and easy answer to those long and complex psychometric tests that have fascinated us for decades. With just a few taps on your mobile phone, you will discover which of the nine personality types you are: The Reformer, The Helper, The Achiever, The Individualist, The Investigator, The Loyalist, The Enthusiast, The Challenger or the Peacemaker.
The Nafsi personality classifications are modeled on the Enneagram, an accumulation of old wisdoms that have been integrated into academic systems using a scientific approach. As you learn more about your own type and those of your close and broad circles of friends and acquaintances you begin to understand that people have different motivations, values and priorities. This understanding will help you communicate more effectively and treat yourself and others with more compassion and tolerance.
While everyone has a certain mix of types in their overall personality, one particular pattern emerges as your basic type that stays the same throughout your life. While people change and develop in numerous ways, they do not change from one basic personality type to another. Descriptions of the types are universal and apply equally to men and women but both will express the same attitudes, traits, and tendencies somewhat differently
Remember that the numerical ranking of the types is not significant: being a type with a higher number is not better than being a type with a lower number. None of the personality types is better or worse than any other — all types have unique assets, strengths and weaknesses but no matter what type you are, you have all nine types in you, to some degree. To explore them all and see them all operating in you is to see the full spectrum of human nature.

I long to be a better person and see it as my mission and responsibility to make the world a better place. To reach that goal, I need to live in a balanced and reasonable way. My attention is on what is right and wrong, on what should be corrected. I avoid mistakes. Unfairness and irresponsibility make me angry. Although I don’t easily show anger and even ignore it. I try to keep control over my emotions. I like it when things are organized and neat and when people arrive on time. People may see me as too interested in details, too critical and not flexible.
What others want and need is very important to me. I usually feel what others need and want and do what I can to help them. I try not to disappoint others. I like to share the good things in life with others. I am very interested in what is going on in other people’s lives and I always remember personal things about them. Sometimes I take so much care of others that I forget about myself. It is very important for me to be loved and I get angry when people don’t appreciate me or if they don’t care for others. People may see me as interfering in their business, overly helpful or manipulative
Being successful is very important for me. I like to be the best at what I do and to be appreciated for it. I want things to be done quickly and efficiently and I am very goal oriented. I am a very hard and motivated worker and I know how to adapt to different situations. I can get the job done although I sometimes set my feelings aside to be able to do so. I get angry when people are inefficient, not performing well or when they don’t make up their mind. I like looking good. People may see me as impatient, unfeeling, putting too much focus on being efficient and not listening to what others want.
I long to be completely myself and to be seen as who I really am. I am very aware of my emotions and know how to put them into words. Beauty is important to me and I usually give things a creative and personal touch. Being seen as different from others is important to me although being different can make me feel very lonely and even depressed. I often long for something I don’t have and can be jealous of others. I want people to pay attention to me and I don’t like it when they let me down, or think I am not interesting enough. People may see me as too emotional, too focused on myself, unsatisfied with what they tell me and very intense.
I want to know everything I can about a subject. I spend a lot of time thinking and analysing before I get into action. I can be very innovative and “out of the box”. Sometimes I am so concentrated on an interesting topic that I lose track of time and even forget to eat and drink. I am very independent and individualistic. I need a lot of time on my own and I don’t like it when people pay me an unexpected visit. I avoid strong feelings, including my own. I get angry when people think what I say is wrong. People may think I don’t show my feelings enough, that I am too rational and analytical.
A stable and safe environment is very important to me. My focus is on what can go wrong or what is difficult. I can be very anxious and either react on that by being uncertain and dependent or I go against it and challenge my fears (for instance rock climbing when I am afraid of heights). I like to achieve something with people and to be prepared to face the difficulties in life. I am meticulous, disciplined and persevering. I like to be of help and to contribute to a better world. I am reliable, responsible and hard working. I have a great sense of humour. I don’t easily trust people, but if I do I am very loyal. I get angry when I can’t trust people, when I am put under pressure and when I can’t depend on people who are in charge. People may think I am too worried, challenging, doubting, controlling and at times pessimistic.
I am an optimist and very enthusiastic. I am always looking for pleasure, interesting projects and adventure. I am flexible and like to do a lot of different things. I keep track of news and trends, which makes me an interesting person to talk with. I don’t like frustrations or negative feelings and avoid them by keeping busy. Freedom is very important to me and I don’t like it when things or people keep me from doing what I want. People who are stuck, unhappy, depressed or who blame others make me angry. I hate being bored. People may see me as changing the topic too quickly, self-oriented, too flexible and excuse myself too often.
I like to be independent and look after myself. I love to be in power and am not easily afraid. My attention is on justice and injustice and if people are treated unjustly I will protect or defend them. I have a strong vision and like action. I am strong at making difficult decisions, that’s why people come to me when there is a problem. Honesty and honour are important to me and I want to be respected. What you see is what you get. I avoid being weak, uncertain or dependent. Betrayal, injustice and manipulation as well as people who won’t stand up for themselves make me angry. People may think I am overly confrontational, intimidating and controlling.
I am easy-going and stable. I am interested in what other people want. Harmony is very important to me. I am good at comforting people and usually come across as very serene. I believe everything in life is connected and that all human beings are good by nature. I like structure and routine to make life predictable. I don’t like change and my usual reaction to it is to start daydreaming, being inactive or pretend it is not happening. I avoid conflict, confrontation and feeling uncomfortable. I don’t like being controlled and being treated as unimportant. If people try to make me change or do something I don’t want I can become stubborn or passive-aggressive. People may see me as having difficulty making up my mind, explaining too much and not being clear about what I want and where I stand.
